Public Invited To BBC Radio 4 Broadcast Marking Campus’ 50 Years

The public are invited to participate in a live nationwide broadcast from Coleraine of BBC Radio 4’s flagship programme Any Questions?

Jonathan Dimbleby will chair the hour-long debate on national and international issues live from the Ulster University campus on Friday 15 June from 8pm.
Members of the public can get free audience tickets and if they wish submit a question. If chosen they can ask their question to a panel of national politicians and policy experts.
The longest running discussion programme in the UK is broadcasting from the campus to mark its 50th anniversary.

The programme is repeated the following day, Saturday, at 1.10pm on BBC Radio 4. Both broadcasts can get audiences of up to 1m people. It will also be on podcast on the BBC 4 website.
The broadcast will be followed by a drinks reception hosted by Ulster University’s Centre for Media Research to mark 40 years of media research and teaching on the campus. Some £6.5m has been invested recently building state-of-the-art TV and radio studios, editing suites and newsrooms on the campus.
The broadcast takes place in the university’s new Auditorium, U Block, Central Building, Coleraine campus on front of 250 members of the public. Parking on campus is free after 6pm on Friday and there are bus and train connections.
Organiser Dr Colm Murphy said: “We are keen to have every section of the community represented and to ask questions. Everyone from A-Level students to our senior citizen have issues that need to be aired and the higher the quality of the questions the more memorable the programme will be.”
Doors open at 6.30pm and guests need be seated by 7.15pm. The questions from the audience are submitted on arrival and then chosen before broadcast and you must be prepared to ask your own question.
Questions mainly look at what has been in the news the week of the broadcast and touch on political, economic, social and moral issues. As a nationwide broadcast, national or international issues are most likely to be chosen. Tickets are available on a first come basis by registering at: https://www.ulster.ac.uk/alumni/BBCRadio4event
