Police are appealing for information after a report of criminal damage at a carpark in the Glenmanus Road area of Portrush in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 16th August).
Inspector O’Brien said: “Shortly after 4:45am, it was reported that a car was set alight in a car park in the area. The car received substantial damages as a result of the incident. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.
“Police are also investigating a report that an attempt was made to set alight an electric box at commercial premises close to the car park. The incident is believed to have taken place sometime between 3:20am and 3:30am this morning (Thursday 16th August).
“Enquiries are ongoing and at this stage, police are investigating a link between both incidents.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw anyone in the area or anything suspicious to contact police on 101 quoting reference 175 16/8/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
