DUP Alderman John Finlay has roundly condemned those responsible for shooting a Ballymoney teenager in the arms and legs at the weekend and called on the police to do all in their power to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Alderman Finlay said,
“I was utterly appalled to learn of the brutal attack on an 18-year old man at a house in the Moneycannon Road near Ballymoney at the weekend. He has sustained serious gunshot wounds to his two arms and two legs. His physical injuries will, hopefully, heal in time, but he will be left with psychological scars from which he might never fully recover.
PSNI have described the attack as a paramilitary style shooting. These sorts of mafia attacks have no place in a civilized society. Whoever is responsible and whatever their motive, they need to be brought to account as quickly as possible, and the police must act quickly and decisively. They will, however, need the help of the public, and I urge anyone with any information to get in touch with the police right away”.
